Ferritin Fast Test Kit (Immunofluorescence Assay)

Getein Ferritin Fast Test Kit is used as an aid in the quantification of human ferritin and the diagnosis of iron deficiency anemia or iron overload related diseases.

Intended Use

The Ferritin Fast Test Kit (Immunofluorescence Assay) is intended for in vitro quantitative determination of ferritin in human serum and plasma samples.

About Ferritin

Ferritin, with a molecular weight of 440 kD, consists of a protein shell (apoferritin) composed of 24 subunits and an iron core containing an average of 2500 Fe³⁺ ions.

Latent iron deficiency is indicated by a ferritin level below the 12 ng/mL threshold, which can be diagnostic even when the blood morphology remains normal. A depressed ferritin level accompanied by hypochromic, microcytic anemia suggests manifest iron deficiency.

Elevated ferritin levels can be seen in certain tumors, including acute leukemia, Hodgkin's disease, and carcinomas of the lung, colon, liver, and prostate. Ferritin testing has also been valuable in diagnosing liver metastasis. Elevated levels may result from cell necrosis, blocked erythropoiesis, or increased ferritin synthesis in tumor tissue.
